Handapan Fall Holiday Resort In Ratnapura
The beauty of Sri Lanka is enhanced by hundreds of waterfalls. The Ratnapura district, which consists of a lot of hills, is rich with many waterfalls. Every waterfall of these has fascinations of its own. But none can surpass the awesome beauty of Sandapana Fall which is a few miles away from Rakwana town. Anyone who approaches along Rakwana - Potupitiya road to visit the Sinharaja forest can admire the beauty of Handapan fall. To enjoy the real beauty of this waterfall one should climb up to the top of it through the thick jungle. Handapana fall is about 665 feet high. Five streams join and form this waterfall. At the top of this, the water falls as three small falls and they meet at the middle and fall as a single waterfall. In Sinhala "Handa" means the moon. "Pan" means light or lamp. The beauty of the waterfall is enhanced when the moon rises and shines on it. There is a vast plain at the top of the waterfall. From this plain we can enjoy the scenery around. Sandapana fall is not just a pretty sight. It is a delight of nature to be experienced and felt, not just seen only.
